Transferring the overall topic of the conference to the realm of literature, this panel is concerned with African creative writing 50 years after independence. Most specifically, it welcomes papers on African novels published in the first decade of the 21st century. Preference is given to papers providing overviews or highlighting more general literary trends, i.e., discussions of the continuities and discontinuities in African novels by particular authors, from particular countries and/or in particular languages. Focusing on African novels in both the former colonial and in African languages, this panel represents a so-called ‘Schnittstellen-Panel’.
